About Dave

Award winning songwriter Dave Diprose tells stories of real experiences, humorous domestic situations and rural Australia in times gone by. A powerful acoustic performer with gritty vocals and superb guitar arrangements, he brings songs from the traditions and his own catalogue.

Performing blues, Dave is recognised as one of the country’s leading exponents of bottleneck slide on the National Resophonic guitar. Drawing on the pre-war styles of the Delta Bluesmen his “Old School Blues” album spent five months in the Australian Blues Airplay charts.

Performing bluegrass, Dave was a founding member of Nine Mile Creek and more recently his own band Hillbilly Radio. His Hillbilly Radio album was released at the start of COVID and has been lauded for the quality of the original material and instrumentation.

Dave’s songwriting is what sets him apart. His song “Hillbilly Radio” was awarded 2019 Bluegrass Song of the Year by the Tamworth Songwriters Salute and he has been a finalist in numerous songwriting competitions. Dave has a unique ability to write music into the context of older times and yet sound genuine, fresh and contemporary.

A fantastic blend of tradition with an Australian edge".

"Dave's storytelling adds to the appeal of his songs".

"Dave stands out from the pack by finding the right balance.
He creates freely while remaining true to his sources."
