About hillbilly radio

Dave Diprose and Hillbilly Radio are: Dave Diprose - acoustic guitar & vocals; Greg Hunt - fiddle/mandolin; Peter Howell - bass; and guest artist Dobro (or other) - at times Pete Fidler, Ian Vaskess, Tim Hackett. The band is named after Dave's song about growing up listening to hillbilly music on the radio as a kid.

A feature of the Hillbilly Radio's performances is the original material. An acclaimed songwriter, Dave's songs tell real Australian stories of rural communities, drought and heartbreak, long distance relationships, ANZACS, miners and railway men. Blending the sounds of country-swing, bluegrass and old-timey with Dave’s original tales, Hillbilly Radio features humorous and heartfelt songs, old-fashioned storytelling, and music that sets the feet a-tappin'.

The band has performed at numerous festivals including: Kelly Country Pick; Great Alpine Pick (GAP); The Basin Music Festival; Foggy Mountain Bluegrass Festival, Kelly Country Pick as well as being the feature act at Mountain Pickers club nights and other showcase events.
